• 1st Quarter Topper Pride Recipients for 2024-2025 School Year

    Senior

    Ashley Oiler

    Ashley Oiler has been selected to receive the Topper Pride Award for the Class of 2025 for the first quarter of this school year. She is the daughter of Jessica and Douglas Oiler and comes from a family that includes three siblings and two dogs. Ashley is passionate about reading and science, and she plays the bass drum for the HHS band, participating in both marching band and jazz. In her free time, she enjoys playing video games like Call of Duty and Minecraft. Ashley is also an active member of the HHS Science Club. Her advice to fellow students is simple yet powerful: "Do what you love the most. Do not force yourself to be someone everyone else wants. Just be true to yourself." She would also like to give a special shout-out to Mr. Drake, calling him "the most iconic band director anyone could want." Looking to the future, Ashley plans to attend college and major in biology.

        

    Junior

    Ian Van Doren

    Ian Van Doren is the son of Randi and Nick Van Doren. Currently a junior at Hillsboro High School, Ian was selected to receive the Topper Pride Award for the junior class for the first quarter of the 2024-2025 school year. Ian is also involved in several clubs at HHS, including the Dungeons and Dragons Club, Culture Club, and Scholar Bowl. Ian enjoys both listening to and playing music.  He also has a passion for reading mythology! Ian’s advice to other students is simple but impactful: "Do your homework." He would like to give a special shout-out to his friend Kale Simonton for helping him with Physics and Chemistry. Looking ahead, Ian envisions himself in college in five years, though he is still deciding on a major, hoping it will involve something related to math.

    Sophomore

    Sloan Bertolino

    Sloan Bertolino has been chosen to receive the HHS Topper Pride Award for the sophomore class during the first quarter of the 2024-2025 school year. Sloan is the daughter of Meghan and Adam Bertolino.  She is the middle child in her family. Sloan enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends. Sloan enjoys all of her teachers at HHS because they are motivating and engaging and she is pushed by them to be her best every day. A volleyball player, Sloan competes in both the school team and a club team in the winter. In addition to volleyball, she plays soccer for HHS and is involved in a variety of activities, including student council, Sources of Strength, BTOP, and Science Club. Sloan loves iced lattes and has a sweet tooth. She also has a deep love for learning and is excited about her future plans to graduate high school, attend a prestigious college, and explore different countries.

    Freshman

    Aiden Robinson

    Aiden Robinson, son of Sarah and Daniel Robinson, is a freshman at Hillsboro High School and was selected as the freshman class representative for the Topper Pride Award for the first quarter of the 2024-2025 school year. An avid sports enthusiast, Aiden has four brothers, one sister, and three dogs. At HHS, he currently plays soccer and plans to join the basketball, track, and tennis teams. Aiden appreciates his teachers at HHS, noting that they are kind and excellent at helping him learn new things. He also speaks highly of his coaches, who have shown great support and encouragement so far. Aiden’s advice to others is to give their best effort—he believes that dedication can take you wherever you want to go. He’d also like to give a special shout-out to his close friend, Kohl Fuller, for making this year memorable.  After high school graduation, Aiden plans on attending college.
