2016-2017 TOP TOPPERS AT HHS
The Top Topper is awarded monthly to an HHS student showing exemplified characteristics in leadership, attitude, and direction. Teachers of HHS nominate students with administration making the final decision.

Aliese Greenwood is the daughter of Scott and Sherry Greenwood of Hillsboro. Aliese was chosen to represent the senior class for the month of November as the Top Topper. Aliese's favorite class is AP Chemistry because the labs are awesome and so is Mr. Crowder. Aliese spends most of her time studying; however, she does like to spend time with her family, friends, and dog. She also likes to get involved with her youth group, Cornerstone, and volunteer with PAWS Care so I get to spend time with foster pets. Aliese's favorite book is The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. Aliese in involved in volleyball, soccer, FCA, NHS, and Student Council at HHS. Her favorite type of music is the '80's. Her faith motivates her to always work my hardest ot succeed in life. Aliese's advice to other students is the following: "There are only 4 years of high school. Choose your friends wisely, make good choices, don't let people get you down, and do whatever makes you happy!" Aliese's inspirational quote is: "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9 Aliese would like to give a shout out to Mrs. Ward for being wonderful and also for being a 2017 graduate with her! After high school Aliese would like to study biochemistry at Illinois State Universtiy.

Maddie Mizera is the daughter of Angie and David Mizera. Maddie has been chosen as the Top Topper for the month of November at HHS representing the junior class. Maddie's favorite class is English with Mrs. Heyen because it is one of the hardest classes she has and it makes her think and try her best. Maddie likes to sing and watch Disney movies in her spare time. She also enjoys reading mystery books. Maddie is actively involved in volleyball, band, choir, the dance team and Student Council at HHS. Maddie is motivated by her mother who is always pushing her to do good in school and her mother is the reason she succeeds. Maddie's advice for other students is to work hard but have fun. Maddie's favorite quote is "rudeness is the weak person's imitation of strength". Maddie would like to give a shout out to Mrs. Powell for being such a kind human being. After high school Maddie plans to go to college, live the best life she can and be the best version of herself.

Shruthi Mekala is the daughter of Sharmila Gopala Krishnan and John Meklala. Shruthi was chosen as one of the Junior Top Toppers for the month of November at HHS. Shruthi's favorite class is Spanish 3 because it is completely different than all her other classes. Shurthi enjoys reading, singing, and creative writing in her spare time. Shruthi enjoys reading classics such as the original Sherlock Holmes novels. At HHS Shruthi is involved in choir, A Capella choir, band, cheerleading, Scholar Bowl, Interact Club, Student Council, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Operetta. Her favorite singing group is One Direction. Her parents and her sister motivate her in life and her advice to other students is to develop good studying habits and time management skills early on so so when classes start getting harder and the load gets heavier you will be prepared. Shruthi likes the quote: "To give anything but your best is to sacrifice the gift" - "B" Noyes. Shruthi would like to give a shout out to Mrs. Lemons for being an awesome choir teacher. After high school, Shruthi plans to attend a universtiy for pre-med and become a pediatric specialist.

Mady Sheifer is the daughter of Jewell Scheifer and Keith Raymond. Mady has been chosen to represent the sophomore class at HHS this month for the Top Topper Award. Mady's favorite activity in her spare time is to hang out with her friends. Her favorite class is Biology with Mr. Garmon because Mr. Garmon is a pretty cool teacher. Mady is motivated by Cahokia Humphrey and her mom and dad and the rest of her family. Mady's advice for other students is to try to do good and just do your own work. Mady is inspired by the quote: "Happiness is found when you stop comparing yourself to other people". Mady would like to give a shout out to Cahokia because she has always been there for her and she is her rock. After high school Mady would like to go to college to become a registered nurse.

Jack Draper is a freshman at Hillsboro High School and has been chosen as the Top Topper for the month of October. Jack is the son of Bill and Kim Draper. Jack's favorite class is band because he is enjoys playing the trombone. His favorite book is The Most Dangerous Game. His favorite songs are from the Polar Express soundstrack. Jack enjoys watching game shows, watching movies and looking through YouTube videos in his spare time. Jack says his parents motivate him to succeed in life. Jack's advice to other students is to say nice things to people and be respectful. Jack's favorite quote is The Rule #1 of Life: Do What Makes You Happy". Jack would like to give a shoutout to Jacob Daugherty for being such a good friend. After high school Jack would like to get a job at a movie theater.
