  • Welcome from Dr. Fenske, HJHS Principal:

I would like to personally welcome everyone to the Hillsboro Junior High School website. On our site you may access information about our faculty and staff, access weekly assignments, review school curriculum maps, access athletic schedules, and see a calendar of events to keep up to date on all things pertinent to your child's education. At HJHS we are very proud of our rigorous curriculum and standards for student achievement. We enjoy a high degree of excellence from the classroom, athletic arena, and student body; one that we believe is uniquely available only at HJHS. In addition to the academics, we believe in the importance of the education of the whole student. This is evidenced in the many clubs, organizations and activities available for our students. Faculty are dedicated to the well-being of all students, and contact information can be found on this site to assist you in supporting your child's progress through the junior high at home. We also boast a superb support staff that assists students in the areas of health, social work, guidance, and academic support in and out of the classroom. We provide a full encore schedule in which students are immersed in Computer Applications, Art, Health, and Music. Our Choir and Band are among the top performing in the state, sending many to the IMEA competition each year. Our athletic programs have likewise proven to be among the best in Illinois. From our Back-to-Back State Champion girls' basketball team, our Back-to-Back State Runner-Up  boys' basketball team, students who have placed very high in bowling, golf, and chess, our Elite 8 girls volleyball team and cheerleading squad, to our amazing track team, the Dragons have established themselves as a force to be feared. If you are new to the site seeking information about a potential move to our district, Hillsboro and the surrounding communities of Witt, Irving, Butler, Donnelson, Coffeen, and Panama are excellent communities. With good access to transportation, excellent services, a plethora of recreation, and access to good schools, the community of Hillsboro and the extended community is a great place to call home. If you need any information that you do not find on our website or would like to schedule a meeting or visit, please feel free to give our office staff a call. Again, welcome to Hillsboro Junior High School, and enjoy perusing our web pages.
