• HHS Topper Pride Award
    Recipients for March

The Topper Pride Award is given to one student from each grade level once a month. Nominations are submitted by faculty for a student showing exemplified characteristics in leadership, attitude, and direction.  It may be an ongoing act and/or one specific and deliberate act of random kindness.  Following teacher nominations, a monthly winner is selected by Mrs. Heyen.

Kaden Lemon a senior and the son of Larry and Karen Lemon. He is a member of National Honor Society and plays on the basketball, baseball and football teams. In his spare time he likes to play sports, video games and be with his friends. Kaden likes to listen to Rap music and read the Alex Rider Series along with sports books. His motivation in life so far comes from competing with himself plus his friends and family. Advice he would give to other students, “don’t procrastinate on projects that are due at a later date.” He has a favorite quote by Walter Payton, “Tomorrow is promised to no one.” Kaden would like to recognize Mrs. Powell for making everyone’s day better. Someday he would like to visit Dubai and perhaps meet Dwayne Johnson. His future plans are to attend Lincoln Land Community College.

Shebly Houchlei is a junior at HHS. Her parents are Shannon and Josh Houchlei. She is a member of the softball team and is active in student council. In her spare time she likes to hang out with her friends and family, play sports and read romance novels. Shelby’s teammates, friends and family motivate her to succeed in life. They know her potential and push her to reach it. She wants to become the best player and person that she can possibly be. There are three people that Shelby would like to give special recognition to. Her parents are the first two. They have given her endless support and love and she cannot be any more thankful. They have always pushed her to be her best. They have shaped her into who she is today. The last person is Dylan McCammack. He has supported her from the start. He has also made her a better person and has been a blessing in her life. Advice she would give to other students, “participate in all the activities! High school goes fast.” After graduation Shelby plans on getting a scholarship to play softball at a 4-year university and attain a Pre-Med degree.

to succeed in life and he would like to give a special shout out to Jack Draper. Jack is a nice guy who always makes people smile. A quote August likes comes
from Kenneth Branagh, “Lighten up, just enjoy life, smile more, laugh more, and don’t get so worked up about things.” His advice to other students is to
really enjoy life. He would like to visit the United Kingdom some day and a celebrity he would like to meet is Ray Stevens. After completing high school.  August plans to attend college and study music.

teenagers and situations that she can relate to. Her sister Kelsey and her parents motivate her to succeed in life. Kelsey especially because she pushes Ally to do what is right and she is always by her side when she needs her. The advice Ally would give other students, “learn from your mistakes and never
take anything for granted.” A favorite quote she likes is, “It is not the destination, it’s the journey.” After completing high school Ally plans to go to college to become a cardiothoracic surgeon.
