1st Quarter Topper Pride Recipients for 2022-2023 School Year
Senior
Emilee Roemelin
Emilee Roemelin is the daughter of Christopher and Trish Roemelin and a member of the Class of 2023 at Hillsboro High School. Emilee says she is a huge procrastinator, loves Target, and is the youngest one in her family. She also says she has two of the cutest puppies and works about 20 hours a week. Emilee’s favorite thing about high school is how involved and caring the teachers are. She would like to give a special shout out to Mr. Cruse, Mr. Tuetken, and Mr. Garmon for always being such a positive start to her day. Emilee has been active in volleyball for three years at HHS and is in the National Honor Society, Student Council and Interact Club. Emilee’s advice to other students is to get involved! She would like to give a shout out to her mom. At the end of the day, Emilee says her mom understands her 100% and every day shows up and supports her no matter what. Emilee’s plans after graduation include attending Maryville University to earn a BSN and continue to grad school to get her doctorate in nursing practice with a certificate in pediatrics.
Junior
Kaden Watson
Kaden Watson is a junior at HHS and is the son of JoAnn Watson. Kaden enjoys working on motorcycles and weightlifting. He also enjoys a variety of movies. Kaden’s favorite part of the day is going to auto tech school in LItchfield. His advice to others is to never give up because you can do anything you want to do. Kaden would like to give Mrs. Hernandez a shout out for helping him get through his essays in English classes and for pushing him to do his best in all his classes. After high school, Kaden would like to go to school to learn motorcycle mechanics.
Sophomore
Gerhard Netemeyer
Gerhard Netemeyer is a sophomore at Hillsboro High School and is the son of Beth and Kenneth Netemeyer. Gerhard loves to act, film, and deal with anything technology related. He has a sister and a brother, a kitten named Jager and a dog named Wally. Gerhard also enjoys classic books such as Frankenstein or Murder On The Orient Express, but his favorite series is The Monstrumogist by Rick Yancey. Gerhard is thankful for the HHS choir as it made his transition from homeschooling to high school smooth as it could get. Choir introduced him to many new people and made him recognizable with leading parts in the last two musicals at HHS. Gerhad is involved in Chamber Choir, HHS Operetta, Sources of Strength and Topper Tech at HHS. Gerhard would like to give a shoutout to Chamber Choir President Allie Fern Krummel. She is one of the most genuinely kind people Gerhard knows and he says he is not only saying that because he is terrified of her. After high school, Gerhard plans on attending a film school.
Freshman
Skylar Durbin
Skylar Durbin is a freshman at HHS and is the daughter of Andrea and Chuck Durbin. Skylar enjoys going on walks around her farm and listening to music by Taylor Swift, Lavender Haze, and Cruel Summer. She also enjoys having sleepovers with her friends and shopping. Skylar’s favorite part about high school is the teachers because they made her feel so welcome when she started this year. Skylar is involved in choir and band. Her advice for everyone is to be kind! Skylar would like to give a shout out to her friend Taylor VanOstran for always being a nice friend. Skylar’s plans after high school are to go to college.
