3rd Quarter Topper Pride Recipients for 2022-2023 School Year
Senior
Dahlia Bertolino
Dahlia Bertolino is a senior at HHS this year and is the daughter of Meghan and Adam Bertolino. Dahlia is very busy with her family of 6 siblings and working. In addition, she also finds time to be an active member in Sources of Strength, Interact Club, Student Council and National Honor Society. Dahlia has also been an HHS Cheerleader for four years and was captain this past year. One of Dahlia’s favorite things about high school is school wide activities. She loves when everyone participates and shows a lot of school pride. Her advice to other students is to be involved in as much as you possibly can so you can experience as much as you can. Dahlia would like to give a shout out to Sierra Compton because she is the kindest person ever and has the biggest heart. She never fails to make me laugh or put a smile on my face, says Dahlia. Next year, Dahlia will be attending Maryville University and majoring in nursing and earning a minor in deaf studies.
Junior
Donald Buske
Donald Buske is a junior at HHS and is the son of Tiffany and Michael Patch. Donald says life is a door full of experiences waiting to be opened and surround you. Your choice is to open it or not. Donald says he would open it and he advises everyone to do the same. Donald loves being in choir. He loves to read and sketch. He would like to give a shout out to William Rufus for being the friend who understands and never leaves. After high school, Donald plans to get a job to work and pay his way through college.
Sophomore
Leah Hemken
Leah Hemken is a sophomore at Hillsboro High School. She is the daughter of Amy Jones and Justin Hemken and her step parents are Derek Jones and Katie Hemken. Leah has a big family of three sisters and 1 brother. She also has two cats and three dogs. Dancing is her passion and so is acting. Her favorite part of high school is all the opportunities she gets, especially the musical because it is such a big part of her life. She loved being in the Mamma Mia musical. Besides choir, she is also on the dance team and in Sources of Strength and Interact Club. Her advice to others is to always be yourself. Leah would like to give a shout out to Sierra Compton because she literally thinks so highly of her and says Sierra is such a positive and good friend. Leah plans on going to college for dancing and acting!
Freshman
Susy Anderson
Susy Anderson is the daughter of Josh and Jill Anderson and is currently a freshman at HHS. Susy has one sibling and three dogs. Her favorite thing about HHS is her friends because they make her laugh. In her spare time she likes to hang out with her friends and go for walks with her dogs. Her favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird and her favorite song is Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus. Susy would like to give a shout out to her brother, Owen Anderson because he helped her get through her first year of high school. After high school, Susy plans on becoming a zookeeper.
