Hello,

I am Lyle Polus. I should be a familiar face to many Hillsboro residents. I am born and raised in Hillsboro. After college, I came back and started my teaching journey by working at Beckemeyer Elementary School in 2012. Then, 2 and a half years later I left Beckemeyer to hone my skills at Cornerstone Academy in Nokomis. The years there taught me invaluable lessons, helping me become a more rounded educator. Covid happened and changed many things. I saw that it was time for a change. In the fall of 2021 I joined the staff at Hillsboro Junior High School. The past 4 years, I have polished my teaching skills by putting them to use to help our community. Next thing I knew, I was asked to join the staff at our brand-new high school. As of fall 2025, I became a Hillsboro High School teacher, making my on a small list of people that have had the privilege of working in multiple buildings in our district and getting to know the amazing staff that have been at all the buildings.
