HHS Topper Pride Award
Recipients for OctoberThe Topper Pride Award is given to one student from each grade level once a month. Nominations are submitted by faculty for a student showing exemplified characteristics in leadership, attitude, and direction. It may be an ongoing act and/or one specific and deliberate act of random kindness. Following teacher nominations, a monthly winner is selected by Mrs. Heyen.

Kaitlyn Austin has been chosen as the recipient of the Topper Pride Award at HHS for the month of October 2019. Kaitlyn is a senior and the daughter of Jimmy and Tracy Austin. She is currently not involved in any sports or clubs at HHS but loves to show Topper Pride! In her spare time, she likes to barrel race. Kaitlyn likes all types of music. She would like to give a shout out to Caitlyn Barricklow for always pushing her. Kaitlyn's favorite part of the day is FLEX, because it gives her more time to study. The advice that she would like to give to her peers is “Always do what's right”! Kaitlyn was asked what she would do with a million dollars and she responded, “I would use it to help animals in animal shelters.'' After graduating high school, she would like to attend nursing school.
Chad Wideman has been chosen as the recipient of the Topper Pride Award at HHS for the month of October 2019. Chad is a junior and the son of Marvetta Straub and Bernie Wideman . He is currently not involved in any sports at HHS but loves to root on the Topper Basketball team! Chad enjoys playing video games and taking care of all of his animals. He likes to listen to Country music. The person that Chad would like to give a shout out to is Mr. Marcolini for his knowledge and help with homework. Chad's favorite part of the day is lunch. The advice he would like to give to other students is “Listen to the things that teachers say because it is very valuable.'' If Chad won a million dollars, “He would invest in lawn care machinery”. After graduating from high school he would like to become a mechanic and specialize in small engines.
Meagan Jorn has been chosen as the recipient of the Topper Pride Award at HHS for the month of October 2019. Meagan is a sophomore and the daughter of Troy and Paula Bartz and Denny and Marcy Jorn. She is a member of the golf team and a cheerleader. In her spare time, Meagan likes to play golf and spend time with friends. She also likes to listen to Pop music. Meagan says her mom is her biggest motivator in life. Her mom encourages her to give 100% all of the time. Meagan would like to give a shout out to Clayton Eddington because he always makes sure she does things to the best of her ability. Meagan's favorite part of the day is Mrs. Powell's class because she is a nice person and makes English bearable. Advice that she would like to give to other students is “To have fun in high school, and enjoy your time here at HHS”. Meagan was asked what she would do with a million dollars and she responded, “I would buy a bunch of shoes”. After graduating high school, she would like to become an Aerospace Engineer.
Lauren Hartman has been chosen to be awarded the Topper Pride Award at HHS this October 2019. Lauren is a freshman and is the daughter of Jody and Chad Hartman. She is a member of the band. In her spare time, Lauren likes to tumble and practice band. Lauren also likes to listen to all types of music and read mystery books. The person that Lauren would like to give a shout out to is Glory Wilson for always lifting her spirits. Lauren’s favorite part of the day is P.E “because it is fun and I like Mrs. Shankland”. The advice Lauren would like to give to other students is, “Just be nice to everyone”. Lauren was asked what she would do with a million dollars and she responded, “I would help my siblings with college debt”. After graduating high school, she would like to go to college to become a teacher.
