2015-2016 TOP TOPPERS AT HHS
The Top Topper is awarded monthly to an HHS student showing exemplified characteristics in leadership, attitude, and direction. Teachers of HHS nominate students with administration making the final decision.

Devon Odle is the Top Topper for HHS October 2015. Devon’s parents are Jill Durbin and Steve Odle. Devon’s favorite class is Reader’s Response because they get to do fun activities. In his spare time Devon likes to ride four wheelers and hang out with his family and friends. Devon’s favorite type of music is country. His advice to underclassmen is to “keep your head in the game and don’t give up”. His family and friends motivate him in life to succeed and improve in life. Devon’s inspirational quote is “we are all damaged in our own way, nobody is perfect.” Devon would to give a shout out to his uncle because he teaches him something new every day. After high school Devon plans on going to school to be a lineman.

Austin Michaelis Jr. is the Junior Top Topper. Austin’s parents are Roger and Jill Michaelis. His favorite class is Algebra II because he is good at math and Mrs. Boston is very helpful. Austin’s mom motivates him in life and his inspirational quote is “greatness from small beginnings”. Austin enjoys riding four wheelers and fishing. He also enjoys reading The Crucibles. His advice to other students is to use the correct door and put your name on your papers. Austin would like to give a shout out to Mr. Burke for making English III so interesting. After high school Austin plans on staying in Hillsboro.

Peyton Tester is the Sophomore Top Topper at HHS. Peyton’s parents are Ann and Dan Tester. His favorite class is math because he likes to solve interesting problems. Peyton enjoys playing football, basketball, hunting and hanging out with his friends. He also enjoys reading Sports Illustrated. Peyton is also involved in FFA, Student Council and FCA at school. His favorite type of music is Hip Hop and Rap. His mom and dad motivate him in life to succeed. His advice to other students is: “Try hard in school and always be nice and generous to everyone”. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it over and put it back in your pocket. Peyton would like to give a shout out to his mom because she always pushes him to do better. After high school, Peyton plans on going to the University of Illinois and become a commodities trader on the Chicago Board of Trade or become a plastic surgeon.

Jazmin Valerino is the freshman Top Topper this month of October 2015. Jazmin’s mom is Miriam Batista Valerino. Jazmin’s favorite class is Science because she loves learning about what nature holds and physics. Jazmin likes to run, read and spend time with her family. She also enjoys reading non-fiction books and her favorite movie is Blind Side. Jazmin is involved in HHS Choir and is thinking about joining the Track and Field team today. Her favorite song in “Book it Up” by Prince Royce, Pitbull and Jennifer Lopez. Her mom motivates her to succeed in life because she explains how going to school puts your life forward and keeps it straight. Her advice is to be yourself, enjoy life even more when you don’t try to be like someone else. She loves the quote: “You are powerful. Don’t let anyone use their power to put you down. Use your power to ignore and BE HAPPY AND FEEL GREAT!” Jazmin would like to give a shout out to the HHS Teachers because they are kind enough to give her their time, advice and understanding when she was going through a rough time. After high school Jazmin plans on going in to the military.
