A little bit about Mr. Drake:

I am originally from Naperville, Illinois, and attended Metea Valley High School. Throughout my high school career, I performed in a concert band, marching band, jazz ensembles, brass quintets, and symphony orchestras. I also was involved with a regional youth orchestra, Midwest Young Artists, a program I am still a supporter of today. I then ventured into central Illinois at Illinois Wesleyan University to study Music Education. While at IWU, I was named a winner of the Henry Charles Memorial Concerto-Aria Competition, and performed the Vaughan Williams' Tuba Concerto with a full orchestra. Throughout my musical career, I've performed with esteemed musicians and conductors such as Doc Severinsen, Dr. Scott Peterson (Illinois), Dr. Charles Mengini (Vandercook), and many others.

My goal is for Hillsboro Band students to have life-changing musical experiences and to develop into 21st Century Humans that value creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking.
