Mrs. Edwards’ Social Studies
Class Expectations & Guidelines
THE BASICS:
■ Be present, be prepared, be awesome. Bring your brain, materials, and a
good attitude every day.
■ No phones. If your phone is out, it becomes my phone. I don’t need a new
one, but I’ll happily babysit yours until the bell and write you a referral. It’s been 2 years, NO MORE WARNINGS!
■ No snacks. This isn’t a movie theater, and I’m not sharing my space
with your Flamin’ Hot Cheeto dust. Save the snacking for lunch.
■ No leaving before dismissal. The bell doesn’t dismiss you—Mrs. Edwards
does. (And yes, I’ve been saying this for years.)
■ Respect everyone. That means your classmates, your teacher, and
yes—even the people in history you may not like.
■ Do your own work. Copying is for printers, not students.
■ Participate. Raise your hand, share your thoughts, ask questions. The more
you put in, the more fun this gets.
■ Have a sense of humor. We’ll talk about wars, revolutions, and
politics—things can get heavy. Laughing makes it better.
■ Try your best. Mistakes are proof you’re learning (and they usually make the
best stories anyway).
