A Little About Me
I have taught Junior High Math for twenty-two years. This is my fourteenth year in the Hillsboro School District. Prior to Hillsboro, I was at Riverton for six years teaching 7th grade math and also spent three years at Morrisonville teaching 7th, 8th and 9th grade math. I graduated from Riverton High School in 1998 and then Greenville College in 2002. I completed my Master’s in Teaching through Rockford University in 2018.
Communication
The best place to reach me is at school is at 217-532-3742 or by e-mail. If I am teaching, the secretary will put you through to my voice mail. Please leave a message and a phone number and I will return your call as soon as possible. You can reach me through the new Parent Square App. My e-mail address is khires@hillsboroschools.net. Please feel free to contact me anytime you want to check in on how your child is doing. Parent Square would be the best way to get ahold of me, if it works for you. I have eighth hour prep (2:08 to :58), sixth hour lunch (12:34 to 1:20) and the rest of the day I will be in classes until around 3:15.

All students will be required to keep a binder for this class. This will help them with organization. The students have a list of all the contents that should be in their binders.

I care about each one of your children and want them to succeed in my class. It’s a great feeling for not only them and for you, but also for me. I expect a lot out of the students in my class and I hope that you will work with me to help them reach their full potential. Please, if you sense any sign of frustration on their part or on yours, please contact me because something so minor that is not addressed can turn into something major. Math is a major subject area that will follow them throughout their entire life and it is something I want them to enjoy and not dread.
