Cheerleaders at HJHS are expected to be positive role models and representatives of the Hillsboro Junior High.

The squad will cheer at all home and away games during the boys' basketball season. Practices are 3-4 days a week, occasionally on Saturdays, beginning in July until mid-November.  Once games begin, practices will be held whenever the schedule allows. The cheerleaders will also march with the junior high band at the Old Settlers Kiddie Parade, Witt Labor Day Parade and attend various community events. We sponsor The Dragon 5k every year to kick off the school year and to raise funds for uniforms and various supplies and equipment needed during the season.  Try-outs for the squad take place in May during the final week of school.  During try-outs, candidates are required to learn floor cheers, 2-3 sidelines, as well as demonstrate jumps and tumbling skills.
