Ms. Melanie Bauman
Hello! Welcome to my web page! My name is Melanie Bauman, and I am one of the resource teachers at Hillsboro Jr. High School. I have been teaching junior high for over 20 years, and I have been at HJHS for the majority of those years. This year I am teaching 7th grade literature and language arts as well as co-teaching 8th grade literature with Mrs. Clark.
I grew up in Belleville, where I graduated from Belleville Township High School East. After high school graduation, I attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Special Education. Quite a few years later, I graduated from Rockford University with a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. I hold a professional educator license from the state of Illinois with a learning and behavior specialist endorsement.
As a student, Central Jr. High was my favorite school. It was during my junior high years that I came out of my shell and became more involved in school. Hillsboro Jr. High has a lot of extra-curricular activities available to students with varying interests and abilities. I encourage my students to become active in their school because it is my hope that they love their jr. high experience just as much as I did mine. I want the best for my students; I encourage students and/or parents of students to contact me if they have any questions or concerns. You can reach me by calling Hillsboro Jr. High School at (217)532-3742 extension 2245, or you can email me at mbauman@hillsboroschools.net. The best times to call me are before school, after school, or between the times of 10:15 and 10:45. I'm looking forward to a great school year!
