Dr. Roger McFarlin
2005 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient Dr. Roger McFarlin graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1972.
Dr. Roger C. McFarlin, M.D., family physician in Hillsboro for more than 30 years, was selected to receive the 2005 Distinguished Alumni Award from Hillsboro Community Unit Educational Foundation.He was honored at the foundation's annual awards dinner on Thursday, June 2, 2005 at Church Street Pub in Hillsboro.
A 1962 graduate of Hillsboro High School, he is a son of Lloyd McFarlin of Litchfield and the late Nelda McFarlin.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Washington University, St. Louis, and graduated from the University of Louisville, KY, School of Medicine.
After serving an internship at Denver, CO, General Hospital, Dr. McFarlin was in private practice for two years in Anaconda, Montana. He returned to Hillsboro in 1972 and joined the practice of the late Dr. James Telfer at Telfer Medical Clinic.
Dr. McFarlin is on the medical staff of Hillsboro Area Hospital and served on the hospital's board of directors for over ten years. He is currently president of the Board of Health of Montgomery County Health Department and serves on the TB Board. He has been recognized for more than 25 years' membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. McFarlin is the former president and continues to serve on the board of Glenn Shoals Lake Improvement Association.
He and his wife, the former Doris Whitten, R.N., reside in rural Hillsboro and she serves as business manager of McFarlin Medical Clinic.
