Hillsboro District #3 Pre-K Programs have been serving children and families in the communities of Butler, Coffeen, Donnellson, Hillsboro, Irving, Panama, Taylor Springs and Witt, since 1986. Current director, Francine Luckett, has been with Pre-K since 1992, and Program Coordinator since 2002.Our Pre-K classrooms are funded by a grant from the Illinois State Board of Education and serve children 3-5 years of age. There are no fees or charges for attending Pre-K. We are located at 3 attendance sites in Hillsboro District #3; Coffeen Elementary School, Hillsboro Child Development Center, and at the Hillsboro Free Methodist Church. All 3 sites offer the same family involvement activities, parent resources, developmentally appropriate curriculum, certified Early Childhood Teachers, and state certified teaching assistants.Hillsboro Pre-K classrooms provide the least restrictive inclusionary setting for all children, regardless of their developmental level or disability, by fully blending Pre-Kindergarten and Early Childhood Special Education services. Call the Pre-K Main office at Coffeen Elementary School, 217-534-2314 for information about any of our attendance centers or programs.First Steps is the part of our program for children Birth to Three years, designed to support and provide resources to parents of children under 3 years. Through this program children have an opportunity to play with others when their parents bring them to playgroups, library times, picnics, gym nights, parent workshops, and other family activities within the community.
