Mrs. Waters---1st Grade

Dear Parent(s),

Welcome to one of the most incredible years your child will have in his/her school career!  First Grade is an exciting time as children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning.  You will be amazed at just how much your child will grow this year.  During First Grade, your child will learn how to read, write stories, add, subtract, and so much more.  Through the use of our curriculum and learning experiences addressing the National Common Core Learning Standards, your students will soar.  I hope to make your child’s learning experiences fun and exciting.  I hope to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your child’s education.

Parents are the most important individuals in a child’s life, and we need to work together for the benefit of your child.  With school and home working together, I know that each and every child can have a successful year.  It is extremely important to keep in mind that we all build on small successes.  Each child will progress at his/her own rate, acquiring skills, as he/she is developmentally ready.  Maintaining each child’s self-esteem and building a secure foundation for future growth will always remain a priority in our first grade classroom.

I hope we can work together to make this a great year full of growth, discovery, and significance for your child. I do encourage you to communicate with me on a regular basis.  The education of your child is extremely important to all of us, and I hope this year proves to be a positive experience for all.  I invite you to call (532-6994) or stop by before or after school anytime.  I also have an email address available, rwaters@hillsboroschools.net.  You are welcome to contact me via email or a note at anytime.   I will try to promptly respond to your comments, concerns, and/or recommendations.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year of growth in FIRST GRADE with all of your students.
