Mrs. Waters-Special Education Teacher

Dear Parent(s),

Welcome to another great year at Beckemeyer Elementary School.  I am Mrs. Waters.  I am the Kindergarten Special Educator on staff at Beckemeyer for this school year.  I am really excited to utilize my many years of experience in my role as a special education teacher and case manager.   Kindergarten will be an exciting time in your child's life.   During the early years of school, children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning.  You will be amazed at just how much your child will grow during the next few years.  Early Elementary Education is so very vital to your child's school success. During this time, your child will learn so much.  I will be providing support and instruction to your child based on his/her Individualized Education Plan.  It is a team approach to help each and every child succeed.  I will be working closely with your child's teacher and related service providers to provide the best education plan and experience possible for your child. I hope to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your child’s education.

Parents are the most important individuals in a child’s life, and we need to work together for the benefit of your child.  With school and home working together, I know that each and every child can have a successful year.  It is extremely important to keep in mind that we all build on small successes.  Each child will progress at his/her own rate, acquiring skills, as he/she is developmentally ready.  Maintaining each child’s self-esteem and building a secure foundation for future growth will always remain a priority to me.

I hope we can work together to make this a great year full of growth, discovery, and significance for your child. I do encourage you to communicate with me on a regular basis.  The education of your child is extremely important to all of us, and I hope this year proves to be a positive experience for all.  I invite you to call (217-532-6994) during school hours, or you can email me at any time at  I will try to promptly respond to your comments, concerns, or needs.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year of growth for all of our students at Beckemeyer.
