Kindergarten students will begin the year by focusing on letters, sounds, numbers and shapes. We will later learn kindergarten sight words and basic math processes. In First Grade, we will put sounds together to begin reading and writing words, as well as focus on spelling patterns and language skills such as grammar and parts of speech. In First Grade math we will begin simple addition and subtraction, as well as compare numbers and determine number order. We begin working with numbers under 10 and move on from there. In Second Grade reading, we will focus on already learned reading skills, short vowel words, long vowel words and then more complex word patterns. We will also do spelling and language- writing sentences that have good structure and make sense.
I have a Master's degree in Elementary Education with a Special Education endorsement. I also have a Master's degree and a Reading Specialist license. I attended Indiana State University and Greenville College. i am also an adjunct facilitator for Greeville University for a Corrective Reading class.
