What is Tech Prep?

  • Tech Prep is a program of study which begins in high school, continues at a post-secondary institution and culminates in an Associate in Applied Science degree, two-year certificate or two-year apprenticeship.
  • The program may also articulate from a community college to a four-year baccalaureate degree.

Tech Prep is college prep . . .

  • Tech Prep is designed for students who are interested in pursuing careers in technical fields. Tech Prep Pathways focus on the last two years of high school and the first two years beyond high school. Most Tech Prep programs lead to an Associate in Applied Science degree (A.A.S.), from Lincoln Land Community College.
  • Tech Prep careers often require advanced math, science and communication skills as well as advanced technical skills. Tech Prep students should develop both academic and communication skills as well as advanced technical skills during their high school years that will enable them to be successful in their college programs.
  • College Tech Prep at LLCC includes more than 30 A.A.S. programs of study that equip students with knowledge and skills to enter Tech Prep occupations after only two years of college. College Tech Prep also includes learning opportunities at the work place that prepare students to enter the world of work.

Tech Prep is for you if you . . .

  • Want to explore career options during high school
  • Plan to go to college
  • Want an opportunity to earn college credit while in high school
  • Want to save money
  • Want to get a head start on your career
