The award-winning Marching Hiltoppers perform at all home football games, area parades, and statewide parade competitions. The marching band also includes the HHS Drill Team, comprised of flag, rifle, and prop performers.
The concert band annually presents two concerts; the Christmas concert in December, and the Spring concert in May. The band also competes yearly at the Illinois High School Association's organizational music contest, where it has consistantly received superior ratings in performance. The concert band also supplies music for the high school commencement ceremony.
The HHS pep band provides entertainment at all home basketball games and pep assemblies.
Select students travel around to district schools and nursing homes to spread Christmas cheer during the holiday season.
1. The Illinois Music Educator's Association All-District and All-State festivals, where student participation is by audition only.
2. The Illinois High School Association's annual solo and ensemble contest is attended by select student only.
3. The All-Area Honor Band Festival,
comprised of students from Hillsboro, Litchfield, Pana, Panhandle, Morrisonville,
Central A&M, Nokomis, and Rochester high schools. Student participation
is based on band director nomination.
