The Marching Hiltoppers of Hillsboro High School won their second consecutive first place trophy on October 23 in competition at the Illinois College Homecoming parade in Jacksonville.
The Hiltopper Band scored first from a field of seven bands from Spoon River Valley, Meredosia-Chambersburg, Beardstown, Mt. Pulaski, Jacksonville, and Illini Bluffs. All caption scores that the band received on Saturday fell into the "excellent" classification on the judge's sheets. Scores were as follows: music, 35 of a possible 40 points; marching, 32/40 points; percussion, 34/40 points; drum major, 33/40 points; drill team, 30/40 points.
The Marching Hiltoppers are under the direction of Mark DalPozzo, with Sherri Reynolds, Drill Team sponsor.
