Marching Hiltoppers Win at Barry
The Hillsboro High School Marching Hiltoppers, under the direction of Mark DalPozzo, traveled to Barry, Illinois on Saturday, October 2, 2004 to compete in the Apple Festival parade.
Competing in the Class B band category, each band's performance was judged in various captions. In marching, the Hiltoppers scored 70 (of a possible 100 points); in music, 74 (100); in showmanship, 81 (100); auxiliary (rifles and flags), 82 (100); percussion, 77 (100); drum majors, 86 (100), for a total score of 470 points and the first place trophy. The second place band in Class B, A. C. Central High School, had a total score of 399 points.
The HHS Drill Team (auxiliary), under the direction of Sherri Reynolds, assisted by Brooke Reynolds, won the trophy for best over all performance of the day for all band classes, A though C. There were 15 bands in the parade on Saturday. This marks the first time the HHS squad has won this trophy.
