INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY ORIENTATION (I05)
OPEN TO GRADES: 9, 10, 11
PREREQUISITES: None
LENGTH OF COURSE: 1 year
CREDIT: 1 credit/Elective
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to explore a variety of occupations and to provide basic skill development that will enable one to make meaningful decisions regarding industrial occupations. Emphasis will be placed on awareness and understanding of manufacturing and construction technology. Through a variety of learning activities students will gain experience and knowledge related to production, transportation, communication and energy utilization concepts. Students will use laboratory experiences to develop competencies in this curriculum. Additionally, employability skills and abilities are critical and will be integrated throughout this course.All students in labs are required to wear safety glasses.
 

 

MANUFACTURING I-A (fall) (I305)
OPEN TO GRADES: 10,11,12
PREREQUISITES: Industrial Technology Orientation
LENGTH OF COURSE: 1 semester
CREDIT: ½ credit/Elective
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course offers a planned sequence of learning experiences which provide students with the opportunities to develop competencies needed for employment in a variety of manufacturing-related occupations that exist in this area. Course content will emphasize competencies common to many occupations such as applying safety practices, selecting material, performing bench work operations, performing precision measurement, performing layouts, performing housekeeping and record keeping activities and operating a variety of tools used for separating, forming and combining materials.
 

 

MANUFACTURING I-B (spring) (I305)
OPEN TO GRADES: 10,11,12
PREREQUISITES: Manufacturing I-A
LENGTH OF COURSE: 1 semester
CREDIT: ½ credit/Elective
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course offers a planned sequence of learning experiences which provide students with the opportunities to develop competencies needed for employment in a variety of manufacturing-related occupations that exist in this area. MANUFACTURING II (I405)
OPEN TO GRADES: 11, 12
PREREQUISITES: Manufacturing I
LENGTH OF COURSE: 1 year
CREDIT: 1 credit/Elective
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This second training level course will offer experiences that expand upon competencies achieved in Manufacturing I. This course will begin to offer students the opportunity to specialize in specific areas of manufacturing such as machine tool set-up and operation and sheet metal fabrication. Course content may include the following areas: metallurgy and heat treatment of metal, advanced machine set-up and operation, numerical control/computer, numerical control machining, performing supervisory functions and installation and maintenance and repair of machinery.
 

 

BUILDING TRADES
OPEN TO GRADES: 11, 12
PREREQUISITES: Consent of instructor
LENGTH OF COURSE: 1 year, may be taken for 2nd year
CREDIT: 3 credits/ Elective
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Two year program covering basic and some advanced building construction, both lab and classroom instruction. . Upon completion of the course astudent should be proficient in many of the building construction trades and qualified for an entry level job in the trades. All students are required to wear safety glasses.
