SPANISH I
OPEN TO GRADES: 9, 10, 11
PREREQUISITES: Teacher recommendation
LENGTH OF COURSE: 1 Year
CREDIT: 1 Credit/ Elective
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Oral and written skills are both introduced with emphasis on pronunciation and grammar during this course. Spanish I students learn everyday meaningful expressions, useful vocabulary, and enough grammar to be able to understand and participate in short conversations.
 

 

SPANISH II
OPEN TO GRADES: 10, 11,12
PREREQUISITES: Spanish I and teacher recommendation
LENGTH OF COURSE: 1 Year
CREDIT: 1 Credit/ Elective
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Spanish II students continue to use and develop oral and written skills. More verb tenses are presented throughout the year with increased vocabulary study. Oral work is stressed with students presenting conversations for the class.
 

 

SPANISH III
OPEN TO GRADES: 11,12
PREREQUISITES: Spanish II and teacher recommendation
LENGTH OF COURSE: 1 Year
CREDIT: 1 Credit/ Elective
COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Oral and written skills are further developed with continued emphasis on grammar skills and increased vocabulary. The student will read and translate dialogs, poetry and short stories in Spanish.

Oral work using conversation is an important area of the course. The class will be conducted in Spanish with students expected to participate in the language.

 

 

SPANISH IV
OPEN TO GRADES: 12
PREREQUISITES: Spanish III and recommendation of instructor
LENGTH OF COURSE: 1 Year
CREDIT: 1 Credit/ Elective (Weighted Course)
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Oral and written skills are further developed with emphasis on grammatical structure. Vocabulary is increased through a variety of translations. The students will read and translate short stories in Spanish. The culture and civilization of Spanish-speaking countries is studied during the translations. The class is conducted in Spanish and students are expected to participate in the language.
