The TItle 1 Math program is designed to give childern who qualify additional support services in math.  The program in the Hillsboro District is a federally funded grant program that has been in existence for many years.  It's purpose is to make sure that no child is left behind!  The "No Child Left Behind Act" is a Federal Law that went into effect in January of 2002.

I am a classroom teacher.  I taught a year of first grade, 10 years of Kindergarten and Title 1 Math, 13 years of 3rd grade, 2 years at Classroom Reduction and now I am back to Title 1 Math at Witt and Coffeen Elementary Schools.

My Bachelors in Education degree is from Greenville College and my Masters is from SIU-E.  I have post-graduate hours from several places with a total of 24 in Math education.  I see teaching as my "calling."  The joy of working with students is seeing someone who is having difficulty awaken to the fact that he/she "gets it."

My goal this year is to help my students understand that Math is part of lifeskills that they will use everyday, that "Math happens, everywhere", and that Math is not a "Spectator Sport" that they can just look at, they must participate!
