Harlem Wizards visit Beckemeyer on February 5, 2010
Students celebrate the 100th Day of School


Students participated in "Special Days" to help the "Save the Children" organization with relief efforts in Haiti. We have also been collecting shoes for "The Shoeman Project" out of St. Louis. George Hutchings collects soes, sells them, and will use the money to drill fresh water wells for the earthquake victims in Haiti.
Beckemeyer School children raised $1,821.00 for Chelcie Treadway and her double lung transplant. Chelcie was able to come to school and share her experiences with the children on January 5, 2010.

Primary Math Night—December 1, 2009
The students were challenged to sell 500 pies in November 2009. All of the students who sold ten or more pies were allowed to throw a water balloon at Mr. Frailey at an assembly on Wednesday, November 24th before dismissal for the Thanksgiving holiday break. The little girl with the sad look on her face is Mr. Frailey's three year old daughter, Sammie.
Due to rain, the Halloween Parade took place in our two gyms. We had a packed house with parents, grandparents, family and friends. 4th grade Space Exhibits were also on display.
Ryan Hamby and John Lentz from Ameren UE gave a safety demonstration and educational presentation to all 4th grade students at Beckemeyer School on October 29.
Beckemeyer students celebrated Red Ribbon Week with a Sports Day, Give Drugs the Slip Day, Backwards Day, Whacky Hair Day, and door decorating contest.
Students in Mrs. Hiller's and Mrs. Donham's Kindergarten classes observed Grandparent's Day by sharing lunch in the cafeteria.
Mrs. Fenske's second grade class studied spelling words with a "Plunger" Review on Friday, September 11, 2009.
Students and staff collected money to help lung transplate student Chelsea Treadway. Children brought a dollar a day to wear special clothing during the week of September 28-October 1, 2009.
On October 1 Senator Deanna Demuzio served as "Principal for a Day" at Beckemeyer Elementary.
Mrs. Pat Peterson and 29 5th grade students went to Tremont Ridge to visit with residents and share in the Fire Prevention presentation by the Hillsboro Fire Department on October 13, 2009.
